“Your body has been through an intense 9 months – your abdominals have been stretched, joints will be less stable and, depending on the type of delivery you’ve had, you may still be feeling some discomfort. Many women believe that high impact exercises like running, using heavy weights or doing stomach crunches the best way to get their pre pregnancy tummies back.  This couldn’t be further from the truth and ultimately such exercises risk causing long-term issues – particularly if you have an abdominal separation. Instead, my postnatal pilates programme will focus on strengthening your deeper abdominals and pelvic floor we need to focus on strengthening your muscles, in particular your deeper abdominals and pelvic floor muscles, to help you recover your body in the best, most effective way.”
